In 2013 I noticed that drones were going to be very widely used in years to come so I started selling and flying them, and then I started an aerial photography business. I’ve been working online for over 25 years and having been running an online business in all that time. Let me share with you what I’ve learned and allow me to pass on my tips and advice.
I started to sell drones at first, then I learned to fly them. This was back in about 2013 when they were first emerging. At the time DJI Innovations, one of the leading brands behind models such as the Phantom range, Inspire, Mavic, and Spark, only had a few models available.
I built up a collection of stock footage and then started looking for clients. As it was early in the Drone Age there were many who weren’t yet convinced of the usefulness of drones – a bit like trying to sell websites in the mid-1990s! Now of course everyon takes websites for granted and people also expect to see good quality drone footage in adverts and promotions. They also want access to drone video services for business uses.
