A website’s internal link structure is one of the most important aspects of on-page SEO. It helps Google determine which pages are the most important on a website. Combined with backlinks from other websites, Google then allocates a ranking for the webpage for a given keyword and displays that page in the search results when someone conducts a search using that keyword term.

The goal of any webmaster is to get your web pages on page 1 of the Google search results, keep them there, and move them into the top three positions, and finally to the No.1 slot.

Link Whisper is a tool that will help you with that task and here is my review of it.

From 19 – 26 September 2022 there is a $25 discount on annual prices

Disclosure. I’m reviewing a product I have bought and use. My links are affiliate links so I may earn a small commission if you buy it through my links but it makes no difference to the price you pay.

Internal Link Clusters

When creating a website’s internal linking structure, it’s important to keep in mind how Google views clusters of links. Google uses clusters of links to determine a page’s importance, and it helps your SEO if you make sure that your most important pages have links to them from as many other relevant pages on your website as possible.

You should also use anchor text that accurately describes the page you’re linking to. By doing this, you’ll help Google better understand your website’s content, which can lead to higher rankings in search results.

What is Link Whisper?

Link Whisper is a WordPress plugin that scans all the links in your WordPress site, from each page and post to all other pages and posts, and then presents you with suggestions as to how they may be better interlinked. You can then simply select those suggestions, click the button, and the links are then added.

It can also auto-link using keywords you specify, finds broken links, and finds orphaned posts or pages that have no links to them at all.

Imagine having to do all this by hand for even a small site with about 30 posts. It would take hours!

Who Founded Link Whisper?

Link Whisper is the brainchild of Spencer Haws, owner of NichePursuits.com.

Top benefits of Link Whisper

  1. It saves time. Even if you use another SEO plugin like RankMath or Yoast, you still have to remember to manually add each link when you’re drafting the post, and it’s not easy to remember how many links you’ve added and to which posts.
  2. It fixes things. Without an audit of your site using another tool, you won’t know if you’ve got any broken links or orphaned posts. Link Whisper reveals them and makes fixing them easy, thus improving the overall quality of your site which has a knock-on effect on its chances of ranking higher in the search engines.
  3. It gives peace of mind. Having used this tool regularly and having installed it on several websites, it leaves me free to concentrate on other tasks like gaining backlinks to the sites and producing new content, safe in the knowledge that at least my site’s internal link structures are vastly improved with relevant internal links.

Best Link Whisper Features

Internal link building

This is easily the best feature as it saves the most time by suggesting relevant internat links and providing the means to add them quickly so that posts that can be grouped into clusters.

It can find orphaned pages

Another useful function. You may have written a brilliant 3,000 word article but it will need internal and external links and if you’ve forgotten to add any internal links pointing to it, the chances of success with it are diminished.

it can find broken links

It’s obvious that broken links need to be fixed and Link Whisper can help you save time with this task too. It finds them and again, provides a quick way of fixing them.

Optional automatic link building

There is an option to create links automatically for any keyword or phrase of your choosing. Use this cautiously as you don’t want to create too many links that look artificial.

Organic traffic data

Link Whisper provides stats on the organic traffic that your site attracts, so you can see at a glance when your link-building efforts start to pay off.

The price is normally $77 for one site license, $117 for a three-site license, and $167 for a ten-site license, but from 19 – 26 September 2022 there is a $25 discount on these prices.

Link Whisper Pros and Cons

There are no perfect tools out there so we tend to invest our hard-earned money in those that have the most advantages and the least disadvantages.

Link Whisper Pros

  • Saves time
  • Builds SEO strength
  • Reasonably priced
  • Knowledgebase
  • Quick support

Link Whisper Cons

  • Sometimes chooses a long phrase as the anchor text for a link, so you have to deselect some of the words to make it look right

Personal Experience with Link Whisper

I first installed Link Whisper on this site and I’ve noted that the Ahrefs UR (URL rating, a measure of the site’s link structure) increased from a single figure to 31 over the past few months. Based on this result I’ve bought several other licenses and installed it on other sites I’m developing.

Every time I add a new blog post I use Link Whisper to check and enhance the link structure to and from that post. In just a few clicks I’m confident that I’ve optimised by new blog post with relevant links using target keywords.

Does that mean this is an unbiased Link Whisper review? I guess not as I’m encouraging you to use it but as you can see, I have tested Link Whisper and can see the benefits.

What is on-page SEO?

On-page SEO is the practice of optimizing a website for better search engine rankings. It involves optimizing individual web pages so that they are more relevant to certain keywords and phrases. This can be done by adding relevant keywords to titles and headers, as well as throughout the body of the text.

In addition, on-page SEO often includes optimizing the website’s link structure and navigation, as well as the website’s code. This involves adding relevant outbound external links to other web pages, outbound internal links to other blog posts and pages, and inbound internal links from other blog posts and pages in your site.

By improving these elements, a website can make it easier for search engines to index it, and can therefore improve its chances of ranking higher in search results.

What is internal linking?

Internal linking is the process of linking between pages on the same website. This can be done by hyperlinking from one page to another, or by using navigation menus to jump between pages.

Building Internal links is important for two main reasons. Firstly, it helps search engines to crawl and index a website more effectively. Secondly, it helps to improve the user experience by providing a way to navigate between related pages.

When done correctly, internal linking can also help to boost a website’s search engine rankings by improving its link equity and authority. As such, it is an important part of any SEO strategy.

Link Whisper Review Conclusion: Should You Buy Link Whisper?

If you own a website or even manage it on someone else’s behalf, this is one of those tools that should be in your top five essential tools. You may find an alternative internal linking WordPress plugin out there but I doubt it will match the ease of use and price point of the Link Whisper plugin.

Any plugin that saves you time while strengthening your site is worth consideration. Given the effectiveness of Link Whisper and its reasonable price point, deciding to buy a copy is a really easy decision. Buy yours today and soon after installing it you’ll be confident that your site’s on-page SEO has improved.
