Penetration by Ingo Swann. A Remote Viewing Classic
Penetration by Ingo Swann is a classic remote viewing book which details his experiences during the early days of the CIA’s paranormal research program. Swann’s account is one of the most fascinating and comprehensive first-hand descriptions of what it’s like to enter a trance state and explore distant places psychically.
Who is Ingo Swann?
Ingo Swann was born on September 14, 1933, in Telluride, Colorado and died on January 13, 2013. He was an artist, parapsychologist and author who wrote extensively on the topics of remote viewing and psychic phenomena.
Swann was considered to be one of the pioneers of modern-day remote viewing, having participated in early experiments conducted by the United States military in the 1970s. Some regard him as the grandfather of remote viewing due to his pioneering work with Russell Targ and Harold Puthoff. It was his work at the Stanford Research Institute that caught the attention of the CIA and ultimately lead to the launch of Project Stargate.
He played a key role in several government research projects on psychic phenomena, developing innovative approaches toward the actual realization of subtle human energies. He viewed PSI powers as only parts of the larger spectrum of human sensing systems.
He was also involved in numerous studies of psychic abilities and was the author of several books on the topic.
Ingo Swann’s remote viewing of Jupiter, Mars, and Mercury
Ingo Swann conducted sessions targeting Jupiter and its surrounding moons, as well as Mars and Mercury. His findings about Jupiter were later confirmed by Voyager’s tour of the planet in 1979.
During his Remote Viewing sessions of Mars, he reported seeing water, among other observations. Decades later, in 2015, NASA scientists announced that they believed they could finally confirm that water flows on the surface of Mars.
“It took Mariner 10 months to get to Mercury, but Mr Swann was able to project his consciousness there in an instant. Mr Swann’s findings, weeks before we received the Mariner data, were incredibly accurate.”

Penetration: The Question of Extraterrestrial and Human Telepathy
In Penetration, Ingo Swann tells the story of his involvement with a secret government agency tasked with investigating UFOs and extraterrestrial activity. Swann describes attending meetings in a secret underground facility near Washington D.C. and being taken to a remote location near the Arctic Circle to witness the arrival of a huge UFO. Swann’s experiences with this agency were so secretive that he had no written secrecy agreements. Instead, confidentiality was enforced using only verbal ones with the agreement that they would eventually expire.
The book discusses undeveloped human telepathy and contrasts it with the probable existence of fully developed extraterrestrial telepathy, which may have many different forms. Swann also explores the fact that we officially know far more than we’re admitting about the Moon, its origins, its atmosphere, its occupants and many other unusual features.
Swann argues that telepathy is one of how we can learn more about those not of this earth (and vice versa) and that we have the means to answer some very important questions that many have been asking for quite a long time. The book contains information about how to develop one’s telepathic abilities and provides examples of successful telepathic communication.
Psychic Scepticism
There are several reasons why some people are sceptical about telepathy and other psychic abilities. One reason is that these abilities seem to defy the laws of physics. If people could truly read minds or see the future, it would violate everything we know about how the universe works.
Additionally, many psychics have been exposed as frauds who use tricks to fool people into thinking they have supernatural powers.
Finally, some people simply don’t believe that these abilities exist, either because they’ve never seen them firsthand or because they conflict with their religious beliefs. Whatever the reason, scepticism towards psychic abilities is a common attitude.
Scepticism is enhanced when those claiming to have psychic powers provide accounts of visits to other planets where they observe constructions and interactions with a non-human intelligence.
Psychic Longing
However, for as long as people have been looking up at the stars, they have been wondering what lies beyond the veil of this world. Are we alone in the universe? What happens when we die? These are questions that have haunted humanity for generations, and there seems to be no easy way to answer them.
Psychics claim to have the ability to see beyond the physical world and into the spiritual realm, or what might be called other dimensions. They offer a glimpse of hope for those who are seeking answers, and this is why they’ve always been sought out.
In a world that is often unpredictable and confusing, it’s no wonder that people are drawn to the clarity and certainty that psychics claim to provide. Whether or not you believe in their abilities, it’s hard to deny the appeal of talking to someone who claims to have a direct connection to the other side.
The paranormal becomes the normal
The supernatural has always been a source of fascination for humanity. For centuries, we have looked to the stars and wondered what secrets they might hold. We have told stories of spirits and monsters, of gods and goddesses, and realms beyond our own, but as science has progressed, we have begun to find explanations for many of the things that once seemed so strange and inexplicable. As our understanding of the universe has grown, the supernatural has become more and more natural.
Today, we know that the stars are not places where gods and goddesses reside. They are planets and galaxies, billions of miles away from us. As science has helped us to understand the true nature of the universe, the supernatural has become increasingly normalized. What was once frightening is now simply commonplace, and what was once mysterious is now well within our grasp.
However, many other mysteries remain unexplained. We have pushed back the boundaries of the supernatural and the paranormal, but not removed them altogether. The theorised multiverse, quantum entanglement, what Einstein called ‘spooky action at a distance‘, and many other anomalies remain unexplained and therefore metaphysical.
Ingo Swann’s legacy on telepathy
Ingo Swann dedicated a great deal of his time to studying telepathy. He conducted numerous experiments, and found that telepathy was possible, but only in the verbal form. He also found that telepathy could be developed, but that it required a great deal of practice and training.
Ingo Swann was also able to penetrate the question of extraterrestrial intelligence, and he discussed the probable existence of such beings in his books. He also discussed the possibility of undeveloped human telepathy and described an underground facility where such research was taking place. Ingo Swann left behind a wealth of knowledge and insight into the world of telepathy.
